Более того - это крупнейшее в мире студенческое технологическое соревнование, которое проходит сразу по нескольким категориям. В нем могут принять участие программисты, энтузиасты и все творчески настроенные студенты; в команде или индивидуально.

- Конкурс программных проектов — соревнование команд студентов-программистов, проводимое по всей России, а затем и в мировом финале. Подача заявок - до 15 февраля. Где бы в России ты не жил - соревнования проходят совсем близко!
- Онлайн-конкурсы - конкурсы, проводимые одновременно по всему миру через Интернет, как для программистов, так и для администраторов. Ты можешь померяться силами со студентами из разных стран, не выходя из дома! Войдя в число нескольких лучших студентов ты можешь попасть на международный финал, где продолжить борьбу за мировое первенство.
- Художественные конкурсы позволяют принять участие студентам, далеким от информационных технологий. Imagine Cup включает в себя даже конкурс фотографий!
- Российские конкурсы - если ты беспокоишься, что войти в шестерку лучших в мире - это сложно - прими участие в конкурсах, проводимых в России. Почти все преимущества международных соревнований, плюс повышеный шанс на победу!
Тема Imagine Cup: Решение сложнейших проблем современности
Решать учебные задачи - не так интересно. Намного интереснее решать сложные мировые проблемы. Эти проблемы лучше и оригинальнее всего могут решать именно молодые и талантливые люди. Мы предлагаем начать уже сейчас!
Microsoft верит, что ключ к решению многих проблем лежит в технологиях. Именно поэтому девиз конкурса: “Представьте себе мир, где технологии помогают в решении важнейших современных мировых проблем”. Кто-то применит инновационные технологии в области образования; кто-то откроет новые возможности IT в медицине. Возможно, студенческие проекты обеспечат экологическую устойчивость нашей планеты или помогут предоставить начальное образование нуждающимся.
Организация Объединенных Наций (ООН) сформулировала самые важные мировые проблемы, назвав восемь направлений развития в новом тысячелетии (Millenium Goals). Эти цели включают такие важнейшие задачи, как снижение уровня бедности, остановка распространения СПИДа, обеспечение доступного образования и другие. Сможешь ли ты придумать, как использовать технологии для решения этих задач? Сможешь ли ты показать свою квалификацию и высокий уровень подготовки для решения таких задач?

Imagine Cup 2010 Worldwide Finals: Poland
Each year the Finals are held in a different city of the world. Past Worldwide Finals include Cairo, Egypt (2009); Paris, France (2008); Seoul, South Korea (2007); Delhi, India (2006); Yokohama, Japan (2005); Sao Paulo, Brazil (2004); and Barcelona, Spain (2003). The Imagine Cup 2010 Worldwide Finals will be held in Warsaw, Poland from July 3-8, 2010.

This idea of students changing the world is the recipe that inspired Microsoft to create the Imagine Cup. What begins with a burst of inspiration and a lot of hard work can become a future software breakthrough, a jump start for your career, or a flourishing new industry. The Imagine Cup encourages young people to apply their imagination, their passion, and their creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference in the world – today. Open to students around the world, the Imagine Cup is a serious challenge that draws incredible talent, and the competition is intense. The contest spans one year, beginning with local, regional, and online contests. The finalists go on to attend the Worldwide Finals held in a different location every year. The intensity of the work brings students together, and motivates the competitors to give it their all. The bonds formed here last well beyond the competition itself.

Does the idea of creating an application that can be used by real people around the world challenge you? Consider entering the Software Design competition and show the world what you can do. This is for the best programmers, thinkers, and solution builders to go after the really tough problems. It’s a chance to start competing locally, show off your skills and then hopefully advance to the global stage at the Worldwide Finals. You and up to three friends form a team and apply your creative genius to creating a solution inspired by the 2010 Theme. Create innovative software and service solutions that unleash the power of technology to benefit your area or … the entire planet.

Embedded Development
Embedded devices are becoming smarter, more powerful, and woven seamlessly in to our everyday lives. Get ready to go beyond the PC desktop and work in both hardware and software to build an exciting solution using Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 plus a provided embedded platform. Are you ready to push the envelope of where you can apply embedded technology to improve the world around you?
Game Design
Game Design is where art and science come together. Through the Imagine Cup, you can learn and advance toward a career as a game developer or entrepreneur. Use 3D or 2D, make it multi-level or single player but don’t forget one crucial thing – you have to take on the 2010 Theme in your game. How about creating a game that is accessible for users with disabilities or an educational experience for children to learn about the environment? Join up to three of your friends and build a complex and full game experience, using Microsoft's XNA Game Studio 3.0, Visual Studio and/or Silverlight.

Digital Media
The world sees video everywhere. Our photos are online for our friends to view and every day we are checking out the latest cool media files. Today, you get to be that someone. You and one friend team up to create a web video submission. Use the internet to share your point of view, explain, and touch on issues in our global society that relate to the 2010 Theme. Go big, go viral and get the world to stand up and take notice of what you have to say. You’ll be judged not just on your incredible video content, but also on the number of votes you receive.

IT Challenge
Systems are behind everything technical thing we do: from a single computer to massive enterprise infrastructures. The IT Challenge asks you to become a master at making those systems work. You will be tested on your knowledge, faced with unique scenarios and diverse customer needs to solve at every twist and turn. If you make it to the end of this competition, you’ll attend the Worldwide Finals and be announced as the best of the best in the industry.
